ABSTRACT
It is important to have a well-written Abstract! We make that happen in this content section. Your Abstract will have color-coded sections with four critical content areas. Use the Thesis Writing Template to carry your Abstract's color-coded sections to write your entire paper!
Workshop Metaverse resources include Monday through Friday "live" 2-hour expert training with Q&A time, on-demand training in each island, Q&A forums at the Ambassadors table (graduated workshop students) and Professors desk area, IRB podium training and examples, Grammarly podium training, Zotero podium training (for literature searches), and review of a huge library of 55 completed papers.
RESOURCES
POINT 1
This section is your paper's foundation. It is critically important. Each program may format the Introduction just a little bit differently, but six content sections are covered to start writing your paper correctly. Also, some programs may call this Chapter 1, but we call it Point 1. So fun!
This is our Knowledge Mountain Island, where you become a subject matter expert (SME) on your topic from Literature Review and research. We train on how to outline to write this content section, conduct searches, and synthesize materials. Some may call this Chapter 2, but we call it Point 2.
POINT 2
POINT 3
After building the foundation of your thesis in Point 1 and completing your Literature Review in Point 2, it is time to define your research plan and explain your research Methodology. Some may call this Chapter 3, but we call it Point 3.
Build this important section after Points 1 and 2 are done, and you have explained your Methodology. Now it is time to present your Results and Discussion which can include qualitative and quantitative data. Students really enjoy this content section of the paper. Some may call this Chapter 4, but we call it Point 4.
POINT 4
POINT 5
Wrap up the Conclusions content of your paper by presenting it in three well-written sections: summarize, provide your conclusions, and offer recommendations. Correctly cover these three content areas before receiving approvals on your paper to graduate. Some may call this Chapter 5, but we call it Point 5!
Point 6: Why do we call this Lava Mountain Island? It can be challenging to get committee or advisor approval on your topic, write and manage feedback on each section, and wait for final feedback and approvals to meet deadlines. We provide training, examples of email correspondence, and a Control Log to help navigate Approvals from your department and university to graduate.
